Who conducts the Workshop?
“An outstanding feature of the Workshop is the enormous time and business wisdom offered to participants by volunteer leading business executives”. Michael Quinn, MBA (Harv), Chairman, NSW Enterprise Workshop, Executive Chairman Innovation Capital and Director ResMed.
Speakers - Face-to-face sessions are conducted by senior practitioners who talk about the area of business in which they earn their living. These sessions cover the key elements of business practice. Speakers help participants to understand what works in practice, what doesn’t and why!
Mentors – Are a source of objective ‘board-level’ guidance and advice. A mentor is assigned to a team after the opening weeks when the knowledge and skills level of the team are known, and the team’s project is well understood. This facilitates the selection of a mentor who is a ‘custom-fit’ for the team members and their business.
Review panellists - At different stages during the business plan development process panels of experienced business people provide independent reviews of each team’s progress and constructive feedback.
Judging - Negotiation and presentation skills are developed as essential requirements for making a successful business pitch. Teams present and defend their business plan before two different panels of judges in the closing weeks of the program. Constructive feedback on the business plan is provided after both the trial judging and the final judging.
Typical of a fast growing small business, our working capital was tight and in a low margin industry – disaster was always a shadow hanging over us. With a business plan which was a roadmap for the future – we have grown our Dubbo business to a multi-million dollar turnover with a strong full time staff. |
